Short Bio: Oana Băluță is an Associate Professor, PhD, at the Faculty of Political Science, SNSPA. She holds a PhD in Political Science (SNSPA) with a dissertation on gender and political interests in contemporary Romania and a Master’s in Gender and Public Policies (SNSPA). Between 2008 and 2024, she was a faculty member at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, University of Bucharest, where she is currently an affiliated professor. She has authored, coordinated, and published articles and books on anti-gender campaigns, gender interests and political representation, civic mobilization against gender-based violence, media representations of gender-based violence, work-life balance policies, and the feminist movement in Romania after 1990. Beyond academia, Oana Băluță has over 20 years of civic activism. For eight years, until 2013, she served as the President of the Center for Curriculum Development and Gender Studies: FILIA. She is actively engaged in initiatives supporting women’s rights and gender equality, preventing and combating gender-based violence, and resisting anti-gender policies and campaigns. She publishes opinion pieces and contributes to public discussions on gender equality and democracy. |
